Ingrowing Toenails

We are qualified to treat all foot problems with referral opportunities to a Podiatric surgeon if required and update reports to the patients Doctor.

Nail Cutting. Basic nail cutting care for problem or inaccessible nails.

Nail Infections. Nails can look thickened or discoloured. Nail scrapings can be analysed to check for any fungal infections with corresponding treatment . Nails can be reduced to near normal thickness with good cosmetic results.

Ingrowing Toe Nails. Often occurring on the big toe. These can be treated during a routine appointment. Severe pain, infection or repeated occurrence may need minor surgery which is performed under strict sterile conditions and with the aid of local anaesthetic. This procedure will cure the problem, with patients comfortably walking out. Recurrence is highly unlikely but would always be treated free of charge.

Verruca and Hand Warts. There are many different treatments ranging from topical paints to cryo- surgery. Cryo-surgery is a course of treatment which involves freezing the affected area, this often produces the best results.

Arthritic foot. The three main types effecting the foot are Osteo-arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis and gout. Each needing different treatments which will greatly ease pain during the gait cycle.

Diabetic foot. Diabetes can reduce the circulation and sensation in the foot, as a result foot problems can occur without the sufferer being aware. Regular check ups where pressure of blood flow and sensation is monitored with professional care and prevention advice.

Bunions and other toe deformities. Often hereditary or exacerbated by footwear. Much can be done to relieve the pain with the help of orthotics and available foot devices.

Prescription made insoles (Orthotics). Often abnormal alignment to the gait cycle can cause pain to the lower limb and foot. A biomechanical assessment can be performed in the surgery to assess the situation. Pads in the shoe are often used first to determine the effectiveness of any permanent device. If the treatment is beneficial the patient can be offered a more permanent solution with the making of an orthotic. Facilities are available at our surgery to make these insoles. We use a revolutionary new device that is ultra thin in destine and extremely strong, made from a thermoplastic polymer material that comes with a life time guarantee. These often can be made within the allotted appointment time.

Ultrasound treatment. Ultrasound is useful in the treatment of localised pain. Ultrasound produces a vibration of particles within the body as a form of micro massage without heat. This is often a course of treatment which is painless and can produce dramatic results with deeper chronic pain.
